South Lake Tahoe is unique for many reasons. For one thing, the city is divided with one half being in Nevada and the other half in California. The Nevada side is home to many world-class resort hotels and casinos. Some, including the Hard Rock, treat your pet like a “Rock Star” with pet friendly rooms and a dog friendly restaurant. Hard Rock even allows dogs poolside and has a special day care center just for pets. On the Cali side, many hotels offer welcome gifts including dog bowls, treats and other pet amenities.

If you and your pet are flying to Lake Tahoe South, the Reno/Tahoe airport is one of the most pet friendly in the nation. This airport has not one, but three dog comfort stations strategically located throughout the airport. For humans, there’s the Paws 4 Passengers program that offers travelers the comfort of petting dogs that stroll throughout the airport with their program volunteers.
